Pep Guardiola aiming to create history with Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is aiming to create history with the Citizens when the campaign comes to a close. The Mancunian giants have already secured the League Cup crown this term and they are presently favourites to win the Premier League and FA Cup title to celebrate their maiden domestic treble.

This would create history with none of the English teams having previously managed the feat and Guardiola is looking forward to realising the moment. Speaking in a press conference, Guardiola was asked to compare with his treble at Barcelona 10 years ago to which he replied: “We are out of the Champions League and at Barcelona we were in.

“Now we are not thinking too much the FA Cup Final against Watford. I’m concerned with Burnley, Leicester, Brighton. Just focus on that. We will analyse at the end of the season how many titles. It’s not going to change my opinion of what we’ve done this season… how many titles we win. “All respect for my players and of course what Liverpool have done.”

A section of the neutrals may say that a treble without Champions League glory does not mean much but the Citizens would nonetheless enjoy the feat, consider no club has managed to secure three domestic crowns in the past. At present, the Citizens are two points behind Liverpool at the top of the table but they can recover the deficit with their game in hand against Burnley this weekend.

As such, they remain in pole position to secure the Premier League crown for the second year running so long as they win their remaining three matches. Elsewhere, the Citizens are scheduled to face Watford during the FA Cup final next month and they are regarded as favourites for the same with the better standard of personnel within the squad.
